Errick McCollum II – 2,000 Career Points

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Goshen College men’s basketball guard Errick McCollum II (Canton, Ohio) wasted little time issuing in his senior season as he became just the second Maple Leaf in the history of the program to surpass 2,000 career points in the season opener Tuesday night.
Just under two minutes into the second half, the 6-foot, 2-inch shooting guard hit a 3-pointer to put him over 2,000 points for his career. His finished the contest with a game-high 21 points on 7-of-14 shooting as Goshen dropped their first contest of the season, 70-80 to host Indiana University – South Bend.
McCollum has been named to the All Mid-Central College Conference team in each of his three seasons as well as being selected as NAIA DII All American Honorable Mention three times. In each of the last two seasons, the former Canton GlenOak HS standout has ranked in the top five in the country in scoring with 23.6 points a game as a sophomore and 22.8 as a junior.
“Errick is a phenomenal player,” said head coach Gary Chupp. “We obviously rely on him a lot and he is as good as there is in this league. He can hurt you in so many different ways.”
Now with 2,015 career points, McCollum trails just 2006 graduate Eric Walsh on the program’s all-time scoring charts. Walsh is also Goshen’s all-time leader in rebounds (947) and free throws (788).
