GOSHEN, Ind. – Just days after announcing his first 2010 recruit – Chelsea Schmucker – Goshen College volleyball head coach Jim Routhier is at it again.

This time, the addition comes in All Ohio setter Stacy Wyse of Archbold High School.

“Stacy is a great addition to our program,” Routhier said.  “The setter is the quarterback of the team and Stacy is a leader and an outstanding setter at the top level.”

Wyse is coming off an award packed senior season that included First Team All-Ohio, First Team District 7, District 7 Player of the Year, and First Team All Northwest Ohio Athletic League honors.

“Stacy is a ‘winner’ and she has proved it over and over at Archbold, which is an outstanding winning program,” Routhier added.  “She has great skills and a winning attitude that will fit in perfect with our team.  Stacy is a key element we needed to bring our program to the championship level.”

Wyse became the second to sign a letter of intent for 2010

Archbold went 19-1 last season with Wyse controlling the offense and Routhier thinks her skills will translate well to his Maple Leaf squad that graduated two senior setters after making a run to their first MCC Championship game in 2009.

Wyse posted 799 assists at a 98% success rate last season.  A three-time all league and all district selection, Wyse also had 209 digs, 80 aces, and 51 kills during her final high school season.  She was recognized by local media outlets several times with player of the week honors and was picked as the 2009 Crecent News Player of the Year.

Equally impressive off the court, Wyse has been given the Scholar-Athlete award and recognized for her academic achievement by the Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association each of the last two seasons.  She intends on majoring in American Sign Language (ASL) at Goshen College beginning next fall.

“After visiting I was pretty positive that Goshen was the college for me because it had a wonderful volleyball program with great girls and a major that I was interested in,” Wyse said of her decision.  “I am truly excited to attend Goshen next year and can’t wait to get a volleyball in my hands and set for the Maple Leafs!.”

Routhier continues to put together his 2010 roster after graduating four seniors.  Check back to this website for the most updated recruiting information.
