MAY 29 — East Noble Star Jenna Rusmisel Signs With Leafs

Guard Averaged 18.7 Points A Game As A High School Senior

GOSHEN, Ind. – Goshen College Women’s Basketball Head Coach Steve Wiktorowski was looking for another scoring threat and 3-point shooter and he “scored” with the recent signing of Jenna Rusmisel from Kendalville (Ind.)

Rusmisel, who played primarily point guard at East Noble High School was a two-time First Team All Northern Hoosier Conference. As a senior, she led the conference in scoring with 18.7 points a contest.

“We felt Jenna was a great fit for us and we expect her to contribute to our system very soon,” Wiktorowski said. “I felt she was one of the best offensive players in Northern Indiana this year and ranked high on the state scoring list.”

A four-year starter, Rusmisel also averaged 4.1 rebounds a game, while shooting 41% from 3-point territory and 80% from the free throw line. The soon-to-be Maple Leaf is a three-time KPC News All-Area Team selection, as well as being named to the all tournament teams at the TCU Lady Tiger Classic and Huntington North Classic.

“We really wanted another shooter and she is very good from 3-point range,” Wiktorowski added about his signing, who was named Channel 21 News Player of the Week after scoring 30 points in a single game. “She is very intelligent, is a very good passer and can get to the rim. She loves the game and is a great kid who will contribute a lot to our chemistry.”

The daughter of Dan and Patty Rusmisel, Jenna also played softball at East Noble. Off the court, Rusmisel was on the honor roll all four years of high school. She will major in elementary education at Goshen College.

“I am very excited about attending Goshen College and playing basketball for the Leafs,” she said of her decision. “When I first met Coach Wik and the girls on the team, I saw immediately how well they get along. They were like a family. I can’t wait for school and next basketball season to start.”
