Publications

A variety of high quality publications are produced yearly by the Goshen College Sports Information Department to market and provide up-to-date information on Maple Leaf athletics.  They are now available online in a unique interactive format.  In 2008-09, the Sports Information Department received seven national awards from the NAIA-SIDA for these publications. Following a year where the Sports Information Department won seven national awards for publications, Goshen has released its fall 2009 Sport Guides.  The Sports Info Department chose a different approach this season to keep up with national trends and economic/ ecological stewardship.  The Sport Guides are smaller and capture the entire sports season (preview, roster, notes, etc…) in a more compact fashion.  An additional Athletic Recruiting publication is in the works to supplement each individual sport guide with general information on Goshen College and its athletic programs that was found in each media guide last season.

The Sports Information Department also regularly produced posters highlighting individual season schedules.  The posters are distributed throughout campus and the community as a means to keep fans, parents, and alumni up-to-date with when the Maple Leafs are in action.  Posters were designed by Sports Information Intern Jordan Kauffman (‘11).

For the first time, the Sports Information Department produced full-scale individual sport media guides in 2008-09.  The guides were well received with four earning national honors in NAIA publications contests, including the men’s soccer guide placing fourth in the country, volleyball fifth, and women’s soccer and women’s basketball taking tenth.  The guides provide complete season preview information, a review of the previous campaign, as well as staff and facility information, full player biographies, and general notes about Goshen College and the city of Goshen, Ind.
