MAY. 6 — More Good News For Leafs: Mault Inks Letter of Intent

Goshen High School Star Added To Outstanding Recruiting Class

GOSHEN, Ind. — The news just keeps getting better for Goshen College head women’s soccer coach Thavisith Mounsithiraj. With six earlier signings building one of the most talented and deep classes in his eight-year tenure, Mounsithiraj announced another addition this week in Goshen High School star Brianne Mault.

A three-year varsity star for the Redskins, Mault led the team in both goals (11) and assists (eight) as a senior on way to being named Goshen’s Most Outstanding Forward. She was selected to the All Northern Lakes Conference team in each of her three varsity seasons in addition to being named the Top Team Player by the Indiana Soccer Coaches Association.

“As evidence by her accolades, it is obvious why I am so excited and blessed with the signing of Brianne,” Mounsithiraj said. “It is certainly an understatement to say that she will have an immediate impact on our program. We had a very strong interest in her very early on at Goshen High School and she is well prepared to come into our program to be a success.”
Also a club standout, Mault has played for FC Indiana, the Elkhart Flames, and Jr. Irish teams. In choosing Goshen College, Mault passed on opportunities to play NCAA DI soccer at Illinois State and IUPUI.

“Brianne has been a twelve month soccer player from a young age, playing indoor and attending some of the premier soccer camps in the country,” said high school coach Dan Graber. “She has a great touch on the ball and one of the most powerful shots I have ever coaches, making her deadly in any free-kick situation.”

Teaming with recent signee Erin Maddux of Elkhart and former high school teammate Yaneth Hernandez, Coach Mounsithiraj hopes he has found an answer to the offensive struggles of the Maple Leafs in 2008. In addition to Hernandez, Mault will get another chance to play with former Redskins teammates sophomore Nora Miller and fellow incoming freshman Lynn Weaver.

“Brianne will be expected to provide immediate offensive weapons for us,” Mounsithiraj said. “She is very technically sound and has an excellent feel for the game.”

Equally impressive in the classroom, Mault is a four-time Academic All-State pick and is part of the National Honor Society. The daughter of Max and Yvonne Mault, Brianne intends on majoring in Business and Marketing at Goshen College.
