WINONA LAKE, Ind. — The Goshen College women's tennis team won a pair of doubles matches against the same opponent for the second time this season on Saturday, but that momentum fizzled in singles competition as the Maple Leafs lost 6-1 to both Grace College and Huntington University at the Miller Field complex on the Grace campus.

The Maple Leafs (0-9, 0-6) split a pair of tiebreakers with the Lancers (5-0, 4-0) in singles competition: Goshen's Sarah Hinshaw topped Morgan Mast 10-6 in the match tiebreak after losing a tight 7-5 third set, but Grace's Lydia Ruegsegger came back from a one-set deficit to top Szofia Kallai at the top spot.

In the Huntington match, Hinshaw and classmate Hannah McCoy posted a 6-3 win at no. 1 doubles while Kallai and Meaghan Godzisz backed that up with a 6-1 victory at no. 2. On the singles side, however, Goshen came up empty: Hinshaw swept a first-set tiebreak at no. 3 and lost in the match tiebreak for the best showing of the day.

Huntington improves to 3-6 overall and 2-4 in conference play.

GC returns to action with its final league tri-match of the season on Tuesday at Marian. The Maple Leafs will meet Bethel University at 1 p.m. in a U.S. Highway 20 Cup match before closing out the conference season at 4:30 p.m. against the host Knights.
