Aytekin and Aliaga shine in loss at IU-Kokomo

Goshen competes in the ITA Regional Tournament next week

KOKOMO, Ind. – Sude Aytekin and Carmen Aliaga had dominant second sets in their wins at no. 1 and no. 2 doubles against IU-Kokomo on Friday, but the Cougars came out on top 5-2.
 
Aytekin had a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Gabbie Orlando, and Aliaga had a tight 7-6(3) first game before blowing Reiley Hiser out of the water in the next set, 6-0. Goshen had another win at no. 2 doubles from the team of Sarah Hinshaw and Hannah McCoy, winning 7-5. However, IU-Kokomo won the other two doubles matches and earned the team point.
 
The Cougars won from no. 3 singles through no. 6 singles despite valiant efforts from McCoy and Naomi Lapp Klassen in tiebreakers. Goshen drops to 3-9 (2-6 CL), and IU-Kokomo improves to 2-3. The Maple Leafs are next in action at the ITA Regional Tournament starting Wednesday, September 28, hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University.
