MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - The Maple Leafs men's tennis team split their matches in Mount Vernon on Saturday, losing to Huntington before recovering to defeat Mount Vernon Nazarene 7-0.
First-years
Matija Margetic and
Filippo Gallo each won their singles matches. At no. 1 singles, Margetic defeated Alejo Bagnera 6-1, 6-3. Gallo took down Agustin Agosto at the no. 2 singles spot, 6-3, 2-6, (10-8).
Insee Akarapan won his match at no. 6 singles, topping Illia Turaba 6-2, 7-6.
Goshen took care of Mount Vernon Nazarene in a 7-0 sweep.
Kevin Bollmann and
Wesley Beck didn't allow their opponents to win a single game in their singles matches, and neither did the doubles combos of Akarapan/Gallo and Margetic/Scattolon. Goshen is 6-0 against MVNU since 2017 with five shutouts.
The Leafs take on Indiana Tech on Monday, September 5, at noon in Fort Wayne.
