MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Szofia Kallai and
Carmen Aliaga won all four of the matches that they each played in on Saturday, but Goshen fell short of capturing wins against two league opponents. The Leafs dropped a 5-2 decision to Huntington and fell 4-3 against Mount Vernon Nazarene.
Kallai earned a 6-2, 5-7, (10-5) win at no. 1 singles against Huntington and a 6-2 6-4 vicotry over MVNU. Aliaga, a first-year from Centerville, Ohio, won both of her no. 2 singles matches. Kallai and Aliaga joined forces at no. 1 doubles, winning both of those matches as well - each by a score of 6-4.
Sarah Hinshaw claimed a victory at no. 3 singles against Mount Vernon Nazarene, defeating Audrey Cochran 6-3, 6-1.
Goshen will compete next on Labor Day. The Leafs are at Indiana Tech on Monday, September 5, at noon.
