GOSHEN, Ind. - Goshen faced off against Indiana Wesleyan on Senior Day on Saturday morning. The Wildcats defeated the men 4-3 and the women 5-2. Goshen seniors
Insee Akarapan and
Meaghan Godzisz were recognized after the matches.
Szofia Kallai and
Blanka Bodo won in #1 doubles for the Goshen women even though IWU won the team point. However, Kallai and Bodo scored points at #2 and #3 singles. The two points that the Maple Leafs scored against the Wildcats are the most they have scored against them since May 3, 2002, during the NAIA Region VII Final in Indianapolis.
The men got a doubles win from the team of
Mario Gomez and
Brandon Lomas, but IWU won at #1 and #2 doubles. Gomez won at #4 singles and Lomas at #6 singles. The third GC point came from
Matija Margetic at #2 singles.
Godzisz has 23 wins between singles and doubles in her collegiate career and Akarapan has 37. The Indiana Wesleyan women are currently ranked #19 and the men are receiving votes.
Goshen is at the ITA Regional Tournament starting on Wednesday, September 27.
