WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Goshen College bowling teams competed at the Boilermaker Classic and the Boilermaker Baker Shootout this weekend in West Lafayette. The women placed fourth of nine in both events and the men were tenth of 15 in the Classic and ninth of 14 in the Baker Shootout. Brendan Riley and Guliana Castiglione made the All-Tournament teams on Saturday for their top-five individual finishes.

Women - 4th of 9 (Classic), 4th of 9 (Baker Shootout)
In Saturday's Boilermaker Classic, the Maple Leafs women were in third place throughout until slipping one position in the final game to finish in fourth. Their second game was the highest with a 920 score and they had scores of at least 850 or more in three of the other four games. From the Crossroads League, Goshen finished 21 pins ahead of Indiana Wesleyan (4,288 to 4,267) and was also ahead of Grace's 3,591 pins. Marian finished second with 4,533 pins.

Guliana Castiglione made the All-Tournament Team, coming in fifth out of 72 individuals. She improved her season average from 178.7 pins per game to 183.4 and had scores over 200 in three of the five games. Rebekah Muzyk was in 11th and posted a score of 223 for her highest game. Muzyk is the only GC women's bowler to score in all 19 regular games so far this year. Kelsey Badger came in 39th, Samantha Bean in 41st and Kami Kimes in 49th to round out the top five finishers for the Maple Leafs.

After 12 baker games in Sunday's Boilermaker Baker Shootout, the women were in third of nine and fell to fourth after the fourth set of games. Even with an 834 score in the sixth and final set, the Leafs stayed and finished in fourth place overall. Grace came in ninth and Marian finished third.

Men - 10th of 15 (Classic), 9th of 14 (Baker Shootout)
The men had a strong start on Saturday and a rocky entrance on Sunday, but ended up in a similar spot in the standings both days. Goshen had knocked down 1,056 pins after the first regular game, which put them in third place. After an 845 score that dropped them to sixth, they recovered with 1,058 pins in the third game to move back up to fourth. Scores of 911 and 819 dropped them to tenth by the end of the day. The Maple Leafs placed ahead of Grace (12th) and behind Marian (1st) and Indiana Wesleyan (7th) from the Crossroads League.

Brendan Riley made the All-Tournament team by coming in fourth out of 141 individually and was the top placer among the Crossroads League teams. Riley drastically improved his season average from 195.5 to 203.8 pins per game. He had scores of 206 or higher in all five games, but the third game was his best at 257 pins. 257 is the highest score in a regular game for a Maple Leaf this season. Riley is the only Goshen men's bowler who has scored in all 19 regular games this season.

Nik Bressert came in 80th place and Cameron Fedenis followed in 89th. Blake Fisher was 92nd and notably had a strong 245 score in his first game. Parker Lovejoy completed the top five in 95th place. DaVeon Welch only scored for the Leafs in two games, but one was a score of 255 in the third game - what would have been the highest for a Maple Leaf this season if Riley hadn't bowled a 257 in the same game.

On Sunday in the baker games, the men started 14th of 14 after the first set. They moved up to tenth after the next four baker games and hit 967 pins in the last four of the day to finish in ninth. Grace came in 11th and Marian in first.

Goshen is at the Leatherneck Classic on November 9th and 10th in Rockford, Illinois.
