WAUWATOSA, Wis. - In their first Tier I tournament of the season, the Goshen women's bowling team came away with a 13th place finish out of 42 teams. The men finished 46th of 53.
Women - 13th of 42
The women were usually in the middle of the pack through the competition, with the exception of the fourth regular game and the fourth baker set, which moved them higher up the rankings.
Goshen was 20th out of 43 teams after the first regular game on Saturday and 22nd after three. With an average score of 882.7 across the first three games, the 954 points that the Leafs put up in the fourth game skyrocketed them up to 13th place. After game five, Goshen headed into day two back in 19th place.
The Leafs averaged a 715.5 score in the first two baker games on Sunday and moved up a spot to 18th. Then, a 776 score in the third game pushed Goshen up to 12th overall. After a 712 in the final baker set, Goshen finished with 7,361 pins and a 13th place finish. The top eight teams made the tournament, which would have required a 7,653 score from Goshen.
Rebekah Muzyk was Goshen's top individual performer, placing 83rd of 267. She averaged 180.2 over five games and had two with scores of 200 or higher.
Guliana Castiglione placed 144th and averaged 188.5 pins over four games, including a 227 score for one game.
Kami Kimes was next at 156th overall followed by
Abigail Kenestrick in 161st and
Lily Kelley in 172nd.
Men - 46th of 53
The best of the five Saturday regular games for the men was their first, with a score of 935. That put them in 35th place, but the next three games resulted in three scores under 860 and dropping GC down to 49th. The final game of day one put Goshen up in 47th place with a 932 score.
On Sunday, Goshen would move up one spot by the end of the day with consistent baker scores of 699, 726, 662 and 703.
Brendan Riley came in 111th out of 398 for the men. He averaged 190.6 pins, nearly a ten pin improvement per game since the Dirty Bird Classic.
Blake Fisher was next in 210th and had one of his four games with a score over 200.
Parker Lovejoy came in 215th and
Hayden Grindle was in 223rd.
Zachary Gage rounded out the top five in 294th place.
Goshen is at the C300 Western Shootout on Saturday, October 12 and Sunday, October 13 in Indianapolis. The competitions will be live streamed on goleafs.net/live.
