Goshen bowling teams shine at Warrior Classic

Rebekah Muzyk and Brendan Riley earn All-Tournament honors

FLINT, Mich. - Rebekah Muzyk and Brendan Riley made the All-Tournament teams at the Warrior Classic on Saturday, hosted by Rochester Christian University. The women placed fourth of 13 teams and the men came in seventh out of 12.

Women - 4th of 13
The women had a rocky start after the first of four regular games, totaling 696 pins and were in last place of 13 schools. However, they rebounded with 860 pins in the second game and 919 in the third before finishing the regular games in fifth place, 24 pins behind Jackson College.

After the 12 baker games, Goshen moved up a spot to fourth. Their baker total of 1,975 pins was the third best among all teams, and their score of 214 in the eighth baker game was the highest baker game score for any team, across 156 games.

Rebekah Muzyk had a season-best 234 score in her second regular game, beating her previous best of 232. Across 32 games, she is now averaging 182.7 pins per game this season. She finished third out of 102 bowlers and made the All-Tournament team. Bailey Friars came in 21st and had a personal best 189 score in the third game. Kelsey Badger  placed 40th, Abigail Kenestrick came in 42nd and Jessica Spidell in 65th.

The junior varsity team came in second of three teams. Kami Kimes was the top JV finisher with 714 pins, coming in 12th overall.

Men - 7th of 12
The men were in fifth after strong individual results in the regular games but dropped two spots after the baker games. The Leafs were one of only two schools to knock down 960 pins or more in each of the first two regular games. Goshen knocked down 200 or more pins in four of the 12 baker games.

Brendan Riley had a score of at least 200 in all four of his regular games. His game-high score was 258 pins from his first game and he improved his season average to 208.3 pins per game across his 31 games this season. Zachary Gage came in 25th and Parker Lovejoy in 39th. Andrew Jackson placed 51st and Nik Bressert finished in 74th.

The junior varsity team came in second out of four teams. Cameron Fedenis had the highest score for the team with 751 pins and came in 21st overall.

Goshen starts Crossroads League action on Friday, December 6, at 9:00 am at Pro Bowl West in Fort Wayne.
