MIDLAND, Mich. - Filippo Gallo, Mario Gomez and Insee Akarapan won their singles matches, but the Goshen tennis teams lost at Northwood on Friday. The Timberwolves won on the men's side 4-3 and the women's 7-0.

Gallo won the first set at #1 singles 6-4 and won the third set 6-4 after dropping the second, 1-6. The Leafs lost four of the six singles matches but won the last two when Insee Akarapan won in #6 singles 6-4, 6-1, followed by a 7-6(1), 6-3 win from Mario Gomez at #5 singles. Northwood won the doubles point by winning all three matches.

Blanka Bodo won her first set in #3 singles but was forced to retire before the second set ended. Sude Aytekin won five games but lost in two sets 6-4, 6-1. The Timberwolves won #1 and #2 doubles and took #3 singles by forfeit.

The women's team faces Bethel on Saturday at 1:00 pm against Bethel at the South Bend Racquet Club. Bethel is receiving votes in the coaches' poll.
