GOSHEN, Ind. - Director of Athletics Dr. Erica Albertin has announced that Rustin Nyce has been promoted to the Director of Track and Field and Cross Country at Goshen College, effective June 1. A full-time coach will be hired to assist in track and field.

"Coach Nyce has proved to be an exceptional coach who cares for student-athletes," said Albertin. "He has worked in many roles for Goshen College athletics and I'm excited to name him the Director of Track and Field and Cross Country."

"I am grateful to Dr. Albertin, who has worked hard to find ways to support our track and field and cross country teams," Nyce shared. "This is a clear commitment from Goshen College to build and grow our programs."

Nyce has been the head men's and women's cross country coach since 2015 and is a former Maple Leaf track and cross country runner, graduating in 2002. He was the head boy's cross country coach at Fairfield High School for six seasons and spent three as an assistant cross country and track and field coach at Goshen College. Nyce also previously served as the head men's and women's track and field coach at GC from 2016 to 2022.

"The track and field and cross country programs are on a path towards success, setting new school records and qualifying more student-athletes to nationals," said Albertin. "Coach Nyce will continue to lead the programs to athletic success while developing the students to lead, serve, and create community."

The men's and women's cross country teams experienced their best seasons in program histories this past fall. The women had a 15th place finish at the NAIA National Championship and the men were 16th. The Maple Leafs were All-Americans 18 times during the indoor and outdoor track and field seasons this year. Mathew Keitany was the National Runner-Up in the men's indoor mile.

"I am eager to work with all of our current, incoming, and future student-athletes to continue to find ourselves competitive at the conference and national level," Nyce added. "For seven or the past nine years I served as the head coach of both cross country and track and field and am eager to continue this effort."
