Bowling teams start off 2025 at Midwest Collegiate Classic

Spiddell posts a season-best regular game score of 189

ADDISON, Ill. - The Goshen bowling teams competed in their first 2025 tournament on Saturday and Sunday, the Kegel-ISBPA Midwest Collegiate Classic. The women came in 38th of 50 teams and the men were 49th of 56 at the Tier I tournament.

Women - 38th of 50
The women were in 30th place after the five regular games on Saturday. Guliana Castiglione led the women with a 60th place individual finish out of 310 competitors. She averaged 184.0 pins per game with a high game score of 212 - her highest score since the third game of the Boilermaker Classic on October 26. Jessica Spiddell had a strong performance with a season-best score of 189 in the third game. She came in 192nd overall. Rebekah Muzyk finished 118th, Samantha Bean came in 122nd, and Kami Kimes was 137th.

By the end of Sunday's baker games, the women had dropped to 38th. This was Goshen's second Tier I competition of the season, after competing in the Midwest Collegiate Championships in early October.

Men - 51st of 56
The men were in 51st after Saturday and moved up two spots to 49th after the baker games. Blake Fisher, Hayden Grindle, Parker Lovejoy and DaVeon Welch all improved their average scores for the season after Saturday's games. Lovejoy came in 128th of 376, averaging 191.8 pins per game. He had two games over 200, and his fourth was a 243 score. Grindle placed 151st, Brendan Riley was 182nd, Welch came in 267th and Fisher rounded out the top five Maple Leafs at 270th.

Mount Mercy swept the competition, winning on both the men's and women's sides.

Goshen returns to face league competition in Crossroads League #3 on Friday, January 24, at JAX 60 in Jackson, Michigan. The action begins at 9:00 am.
