MARION, Ind. - Goshen competed at the IWU Midwest Classic on Saturday, delivering impressive performances across various events.
On the men's side,
Samuel Sofolahan set a new school record in the 60 meters, clocking in at 6.91 seconds in the prelims and finishing fifth in the final with a time of 6.98 seconds.
Detroit Walker continued his record-breaking streak, winning the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.35 seconds - beating his record of 8.38 seconds. The 4x800 relay team, comprising
Kevin Liddell,
Anthony Roberts,
Bruno Kipsang, and
Jordan Garlinger, hit an NAIA standard and placed third with a time of 7.54.45.
Ty Hazen showcased his speed, finishing fourth out of 38 competitors in the 400 meters with a time of 51.83 seconds.
Max Estep placed eighth in the 600 meters, while
Charlie Aldrich secured seventh place in the 800 meters.
Goshen dominated the 1000 meters, with
Bruno Kipsang,
Anthony Roberts, and
Jordan Garlinger all placing in the top ten. The men's 4x400 relay team also impressed, finishing third out of ten teams.
Evan O'Toole rounded out the top performances, finishing fifth in the long jump.
On the women's side,
Caroline Jelimo ran a strong race in the mile, finishing sixth with a time of 5:27.21.
Stephany Claudio and
Mercy Chebet continued their successful duo, coming in second and third in the 3000 meters. In the women's weight throw,
Kaitlyn Johnson and
Caroline Lamb placed 10th and 11th, respectively, with impressive throws.
Abigail Aldrich and
Theresa Rodriguez also performed well, placing in the top half of the event.
