WARSAW, Ind. - Men's tennis lost a close contest against Hillsdale on Saturday at the Warsaw Racquet Club. The Chargers won 4-3.
The Leafs won the doubles point with wins from the pairs of
Denis Stanculov and
Timo Novak at #1 doubles and
Bruno Ferrera and
Pedro Scattolon at #3 doubles. Novak leads the team in doubles wins with seven so far this season.
Novak had a win at #2 singles as well, his team-leading tenth singles win of the year. Margetic had his ninth singles win of the year, doing so in three sets at #3 singles. Ferrera and Scattolon both lost in three sets.
Mario Gomez lost his first set at #6 singles, 6-3, but dominated the second set 6-0. He saved three match points but lost 6-8 in the third set breaker, which resulted in the narrow win for Hillsdale.
Goshen (7-8) is in Lima, Ohio on Thursday, March 6 to face Northwestern Ohio at 11:30 am and Arizona Christian at 5:30 pm.
