GOSHEN, Ind. — Detroit Walker, a freshman on the men's track and field team, has been named the Everence Student-Athlete of the Week for April 21 - April 27!
In the 110-meter hurdle prelims at the Don Kleinow Invite, Walker's time of 15.04 seconds beat the school record of 15.14 seconds, which was set over 50 years ago in 1974 by Willie Woods. He proceeded to beat his own new school record time in the final with a time of 14.98 seconds.
Walker is also a part of the 4x100-meter relay team that beat the outdoor school record from 2004 earlier this month. He broke the indoor 60-meter hurdles record in the winter.
Way to go, Detroit!
The Everence Student-Athlete of the Week award recognizes outstanding performances by Goshen College student-athletes and is selected each week by the GC sports information office. It is sponsored by Everence, a faith-based financial services organization headquartered in Goshen.
