GOSHEN, Ind. — Nicolas Amarilla Vargas, a sophomore on the men's soccer team, has been named the Everence Student-Athlete of the Week for October 19 -25!
Amarilla Vargas became the first player to pick up a brace of goals since early in the season last year, when he scored two over Saint Francis on Saturday. He was also the first player to get multiple goals in a conference match since 2022, and this was the first time the same player scored multiple game-tying goals since current assistant coach Henrique Eichenberger did it as a player back in 2020.
Men's soccer takes on their last opponent of the year on Wednesday as they travel to Spring Arbor, Michigan to take on the Cougars at 7 p.m.
Way to go, Nico!
The Everence Student-Athlete of the Week award recognizes outstanding performances by Goshen College student-athletes and is selected each week by the GC sports information office. It is sponsored by Everence, a faith-based financial services organization headquartered in Goshen.
