ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Goshen track and field teams competed at the GVSU Extra Weekend Meet in Allendale, Michigan. This was the final chance to prepare before the Crossroads League Championships next weekend.
Danial Murphy tied his school record in the 100 meters.
Men
While Goshen had no NAIA qualifiers from the meet,
Bruno Kipsang won the 800 meters in a time of 1:54.59. Not only did Kipsang top the field of 40 runners, but
Leighton Dodt came in second among the group in 1:54.88.
Drew Hogan came in second out of 65 in the 1500 meters in a time of 3:53.22
Jacob Friesen finished sixth in the same event and had a time of 3:55.42. Hogan was 2.22 seconds away from the NAIA B standard. Numerous NCAA Division I and II schools were represented in the race.
Duncan Kogei came in tenth of 113 in the 5,000 meters in 14:48.50.
Mathew Keitany also placed tenth in the 3,00-meter steeplechase. Among 28 runners, Keitany finished with a time of 9:33.44.
Danial Murphy tied the school record of 10.71 seconds in the 100 meters. He came in 15th out of 57.
Liam Shaw came in 12th in the shot put and 13th in the discus.
Women
Bailee Brown had a top-ten finish in the javelin, coming in ninth of 19 with her best throw being 31.30 meters (102 feet, eight inches) on her first attempt.
Ella Armstrong placed 15th of 31 in the 800 meters with a time of 2:30.89.
Presley Allen was also in the middle of her field of competitors in the 5,000 meters. Allen's time of 18:39.30 earned her 40th place out of 81.
Caoimhe Farrell placed 26th in the 100-meter hurdles with a personal best time of 16.09 seconds. She was 18th in the high jump, clearing 1.45 meters (four feet, nine inches). Leyna Borgman was 21st in the shot put and 24th in the discus.
The 2026 Crossroads League Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University and will take place on Thursday, April 30, at 9:30 am and Friday, May 1, at 9:00 am.
