GOSHEN, Ind. — Vishmi Serasinghe, a sophomore on the women's tennis team, has been named the Everence Student-Athlete of the Week for April 20 - April 26!

Serasinghe didn't lose a singles match to a conference opponent throughout the regular season and the conference championships, going a perfect 12-0 in that span. In addition to three straight-set singles wins this week in the quarterfinals, semifinals, and championship, Serasinghe also went 2-1 in doubles with teammate Sara Nino, with the only loss coming to Marian. Goshen is ranked #13 in the ITA NAIA rankings.

This was the Maple Leafs' first CL tournament championship appearance in any sport since men's tennis in 2015. The Leafs will find out if they qualify for the NAIA Women's Tennis National Championships tomorrow. The Selection Show for the NAIA Women's Tennis National Championship will take place on Tuesday, April 28, at 4:00 pm eastern time on the NAIA YouTube channel. The primary criteria which will be used by the Selection Committee for at-large selection are UTR computer ratings, IT computer ratings, ARC ratings, head-to-head and record vs. top 15 in the UTR ratings.

Way to go, Vishmi!

The Everence Student-Athlete of the Week award recognizes outstanding performances by Goshen College student-athletes and is selected each week by the GC sports information office. It is sponsored by Everence, a faith-based financial services organization headquartered in Goshen.
