Keitany maintained his seventh-place position essentially from a lap in to the race until the end. He consistently had split times between 1:12.50 and 1:15.50 until pulling off a 1:10.87 in his final lap. Keitany's time of 9:15.14 was a season-best - an improvement from his 9:17.62 time in the prelims and his 9:23.93 time that qualified him for nationals at the Crossroads League Championships.

Keitany is now a two-time All-American in the steeplechase alone. He holds the school record time from his 2024 All-American performance at 9:07.97. He joins Duncan Kogei, who became an All-American the night before in the 10,000 meters. Kogei was an All-American during this past cross country season as well.

Maximilien Filion of British Columbia won the race in 9:01.15.

This concludes the 2025-26 Goshen College athletics season - a year that was full of successes from track and field and cross country All-Americans to the best season in women's tennis program history that ended with their first-ever appearance and win at the NAIA National Championship tournament. The men's and women's disc golf teams were added, and numerous teams saw improvements - such as men's and women's bowling, men's tennis, men's basketball and men's soccer.
