AT GOSHEN:
2020: Ran in seven indoor meets ... qualified for nationals in the marathon before outdoor season was canceled due to pandemic ... set personal bests in events ranging from mile to 5000 meters ... best finish was third in the distance medley relay at Midwest Classic 2/1 ... part of fourth-place DMR team at conference championship 2/15 ... top individual placing was sixth, done twice (12/14 in 3000 at Indiana Tech and 2/8 in 5000 at Hillsdale).
2019: Ran in three indoor and three outdoor meets ... qualified for nationals in marathon with 73:58 half-marathon 12/1 in Grand Rapids ... set career bests in the 800, mile, flat 3000 and 3000 steeplechase ... finished fourth in the mile and seventh in the 800 on 12/8 at Indiana Tech ... best steeple time was 10:08.08 on 4/27 at Grace.
2018: Saw action at six distances between 600 and 5,000 meters ... part of DMR team that finished first at IWU Feb. 3 and sixth in conference indoor meet Feb. 10 ... individually, finished fourth in 1500 at Grace April 28 and ninth in 5,000 at Little State April 21.
HIGH SCHOOL:
Ran for coaches Matthew Nicoson and CJ Shafer at Concord High School ... all-conference in both cross country and track and field ... team MVP ... named 2017 Kiwanis Athlete of the Year ... also took first place in 2017 art show for photography.
PERSONAL:
Born on April 13 ... parent is Ana Herrera ... has two siblings, Kimberly Ortiz (26) and Stephanie Escamilla (22) ... chose Goshen "because not only is it close to home, but I enjoy the atmosphere of having a smaller campus" ... admires his high school cross country coach, Matthew Nicoson, because "he was the man who helped me get into running which it looks like I'll be doing for the rest of my life."
