The women's volleyball program started in 1970 and had a winning record in each of the team's first eight seasons and 18 of the first 21 seasons. Later on, Peni Acayo became a household name as the team found success again in the late 2000s. Acayo was twice an NAIA All-American Honorable Mention and was on the NAIA All-American First-Team in 2009, the same year she was the Crossroads League Player of the Year.
