Jim Whittaker

Jim Whittaker is in his fifth season overseeing the sprints, hurdles, and jumps for the Maple Leafs.  A 2005 graduate of Goshen College, he competed for four years as a sprinter and hurdler where he participated in the NAIA national championships as a 110 meter high hurdler. He has coached track and field at every level from middle school to the collegiate ranks, with numerous school records being set and individual accolades being earned at every level along the way, culminating most recently with Goshen’s first ever NAIA All-American in the high jump. 

Whittaker has numerous certifications from USA Track and Field.  He has the basic Level 1 certification, as well as a Level 2 certification in the jumping events and a Level 2 certification in sprints, hurdles, and relays.  He is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).  In 2012, he received a master’s degree in sports science and coaching education from Ohio University.

Whittaker is an elementary P.E. teacher as well as the sports performance coach for Goshen High School.  During his free time, he does personal training sessions specializing primarily in sports performance for athletes.
