AT GOSHEN:
2020: Ran in three indoor track meets in either the mile or the 3000 ... best individual finish was 14th in the latter meet at CL championship 2/15 ... helped the Maple Leafs to fourth-place finishes in both the 4x800 and distance medley relays (2/1 and 2/15 respectively) ... outdoor season canceled (pandemic).
2019: Only track appearance was a 34th-place finish in the 3000 on 1/25 at Grand Valley State.
2018: Saw mid-distance action in four track meets, finishing third in 1500 on April 14 at Huntington.
2017: Saw action in nine track meets ... part of winning 4x400 relay team 12/10 at Indiana Tech ... best individual track finish was 15th in 600 at same meet.
HIGH SCHOOL:
Ran for coach Mike Wynn at Goshen High School ... two-time MVP and all-conference selection ... regional and state qualifier ... team captain in both cross country and track and field ... graduated with academic honors ... also participated in marching band and concert band.
PERSONAL:
Born on November 20 ... parent is Nohemi Varela ... has four siblings, Aurora (22), Abertano (21), Fabian (17), and Marcos (7). ... chose Goshen because "it has a great athletic program and it's close to home."
