PERSONAL:
Born on December 12 … parents are Jane and Jerrell Ross Richer … siblings are Sierra, Naomi and Jordan … chose Goshen for multiple reasons – “First of all, I have connections with Goshen, my dad being the economics professor and both of my older sisters attending the college. Along with that, growing up half of my life in South America, the international community at Goshen made me feel at home. Growing up Mennonite, I was attracted to GC's Mennonite values and close-knit community” … most admires Diane Van Deren, an ultra marathon runner who suffered from epilepsy for 17 years before getting brain surgery - “after the surgery, she continues to run these races and compete despite memory loss and difficulty finding directions due to the surgery.  She is a true inspiration to me on how to never give up. I admire her strength and confidence in pushing the limits of what most people with epilepsy are expected to do and not do” … little-known personal fact is “I love traveling more than anything! But, I also really like cooking - my favorite food is a fresh kale salad” … best athletic moment was “in the last mile of a race at Oxbow Park in Elkhart. I got a terrible side cramp and was starting to drop a couple spots, but all it took was one racer who I knew well and who was one of my major competitors to pass me. As soon as her elbows bumped into me and shoulders moved passed me, I couldn't take it. I tried to ignored the pain coming from my side cramp and focus only on finishing ahead of this other racer, it wasn't until the beginning of the last straight away that I finally caught up with her and passed her! I am grateful for her and how much she pushed me and motivated me to keep running”
