Biography

Career Times (Cross Country)

AT GOSHEN:
2020:
Did not run. Outdoor season canceled by pandemic.
2019: Made three appearances in the indoor season, debuting in 3000 on 1/25 at Grand Valley State ... posted career-best finish of seventh place in 1000 on 2/2 at Indiana Wesleyan ... also took ninth in the mile that day in 5:34.32.
2018: Did not run.

HIGH SCHOOL:
Ran for coach Peter Casaletto at Elkhart Christian Academy.

PERSONAL:
Born on April 9 ... parents are Jerrell and Jane Ross Richer ... has three siblings, Naomi (17), Teresa (15) and Jordan (13) ... chose Goshen “because I love that it is a Christ-based school that strives to be loving, welcoming and accepting of all different kinds of people. I love that at Goshen I can be friends with people from all over the world, and people don't think I'm weird for having grown up living in different countries. I also chose Goshen because I love our running coach Rustin and I want to be a part of the changes and growth he is working so hard to bring about not just in the realm of athletics here at Goshen but also on campus and in the community. I am inspired by the way Rustin strives every day to improve himself as well as Goshen's running program, and I want to learn from his example.” ... little-known personal fact is “One of my favorite things to do is work with a machete. I spend half of my time living in the amazon rain forest in Ecuador, so using a machete to clear trails, clean my family's banana field, and keep the fast-growing jungle vegetation from taking over the clearing around our home is a big part of my life. Slashing through thick jungle grasses, reeds, branches, and vines is a great workout, and incredibly satisfying!” ... best athletic moment was “the day I ran my first half marathon. It was a super intense course in the redwoods of California. The hills were killer, but once I figured out I was the second female on the field, my competitive side kicked in and I couldn't help but go all out for the rest of the race. I felt so alive out there under the trees pushing my body to its limit. That day I felt like I earned my place as a ‘real runner’.”

QUICK FACTS:
MAJOR: Exercise Science; minor in writing
FUTURE GOALS: Run an ultramarathon.
HOBBIES: Running, baking, making kale salad, going on long barefoot walks, doing core, swimming, kayaking, picking wild berries (and anything else I can eat), and laughing with friends

FAVORITES:
VACATION SPOT: The Boundary Waters
ATHLETE: Emily Infeld. She is an example of someone who struggled with an injury and made it through. Her story gives me hope that I can do the same.
