Goshen College

Joel will begin his first season as head coach for Goshen College this fall. Joel started playing soccer early in the Evanston youth travel leagues close to Chicago and then continued playing at Evanston Township High School. He then went on to play at Oakton College where in his first year was named to the All-Skyway Conference Second Team. He then transferred to Goshen College to play out the remainder of his college career.  He graduated from Goshen in 2007 with a Bachelors degree in Spanish while also earning a coaching endorsement.

Gonzalez began coaching in spring 2008 with the U16 Girls Middlebury Magic and U15 ECU Boys. He has worked for 4 years as an assistant girls’ soccer coach at Goshen High School, where he currently teaches Spanish. Joel’s parents (Joel and Melanie), and sister (Mariela) still live in Evanston. He also has one brother (Julian) attending Hope College in Michigan. Joel is an avid Tottenham Spurs fan.
