John Tamrat

After completing a four-year career on the Maple Leaf soccer team, John Tamrat begins his first season on the Goshen College coaching staff in 2011.  While a student at Goshen, Tamrat also competed in track and field for four years, cross country for two, and was part of the Black Student Union, Campus Activities Council, and The Record student newspaper.

Born in Ethiopia, Tamrat also spent two years growing up in Russia before his family settled in the Twin Cities in Minnesota.  He lettered in soccer, track, and tennis at John A. Johnson High School in Minneapolis where he was a captain as well as All St. Paul City Conference.  He also qualified for the regional championships in the open 800 meters.

As a coach, Tamrat has been involved in the Goshen Youth Soccer Organization and is currently the head coach of the Goshen Stars U12 soccer team.
