Justin DeWeese joined the Maple Leafs athletic department staff in the fall of 2021 as its Assistant Athletic Director of Communications and Operations. In this role, DeWeese directs all communications for Goshen College Athletics and supervises all aspects of Goshen College athletic event operations.
A native of Piqua, Ohio, DeWeese graduated summa cum laude from Ohio University in 2020 with two bachelor's degrees in sport management and business analytics. He completed his master of business administration degree at Ohio University as well, in 2021.
As an active member of College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA), DeWeese was selected as one of 22 CSC Unite Attendance Grant recipients across the three NCAA divisions, the NAIA, and two-year colleges for the organization's 2023 convention in Orlando, Florida. He is a five-time District 5 winner in the CSC Fred Stabley Sr. Writing Contest in four different categories - Historical Feature, Athlete Profile, General Feature/Blog and Social Justice/Diversity and Inclusion. His story "Faith that shines" about women's basketball player Zion Neat was the National Runner-Up in the College Division for the Social Justice/Diversity and Inclusion category of the 2024 contest. DeWeese has also been an active participant in the CSC mentorship program.
In the 2024Â NAIA-SIDA Publications & Media Contest, DeWeese had four top-ten finishes, with three in the Feature Stories category and another in the Season Preview/Review category. He earned another top-ten finish in 2025. He was among five employees recognized at Goshen College's inaugural Maple Leaf Awards for Employee Excellence in May 2024. DeWeese earned a Servant Leader Award, recognizing an employee who goes above and beyond to care for, support and help others in their work. He has played an instrumental role in building the live stream for athletic events, the gameday atmosphere and the annual LEAFYs awards. He has been a part of numerous committees across campus to plan events such as the All-Employee Retreat, Connect Goshen Day and Baccalaureate.
DeWeese came to Goshen with three years of experience within the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League. For two years, he was the League Intern for the GLSCL, and for one year, he was the Assistant General Manager for the Grand Lake Mariners of Celina, Ohio. DeWeese also has sport-related experience with the Mid-American Conference Women's Swimming and Diving Championships, the OhioHealth Race for a Reason, and The Georgia Games.
In his free time, DeWeese enjoys running, reading and researching his family history. He is the Assistant Director for Goshen City FC.
