The longest tenured coach on the Maple Leaf staff, Stan King begins his 15th season at the helm of the men's tennis program in 2013. After leading the Leafs to a 6-8 finish in 2012-13, King comes into this season with a career mark of 79-87.
King's 79 victories is just three wins short of tying Harold Yoder for second all-time at Goshen College. In his tenure, King has coached 14 all conference selections and an impressive 25 NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
King is a 1961 Goshen College graduate and played number one singles and doubles in each of his four years at the institution. He also coached the Goshen High School girls' tennis squad, where his teams won two sectional titles and one regional championship. His 1999 Redskins team also shared the Northern Lakes Conference title.
In 1997 King retired from a 30-year career as a research plant pathologist, most of which was spent living and working in developing countries in the semi-arid tropics. During most of these years King was able to remain active in competitive tennis, participating in tournaments in India, Kenya and Nigeria.
King and his wife, Bonnie, now reside in Goshen. Both their sons attended Goshen College and their younger son, David, graduated in 2000 after a successful year as a member of the men's tennis team during his father's first year at the helm.
