Tyra Carver

Tyra Carver

Tyra Carver, one of the most accomplished student-athletes in Goshen College women’s basketball history, was named the program’s eighth head coach in the summer of 2024. A rising head coach, Carver has quickly established a foundation centered on player development, academic success, and a strong, competitive culture.

In her first two seasons leading the Maple Leafs, Carver has delivered measurable impact across multiple areas of the program. She has matched the team’s conference win total while maintaining a 100% graduation rate among her student-athletes. Her program has also achieved a 3.5 team GPA, and she has developed players who have gone on to compete at the Division I level and professionally overseas - demonstrating her ability to prepare athletes for advancement at the highest levels.

Carver’s coaching philosophy is rooted in a holistic approach - developing student-athletes athletically, academically, and personally - while building disciplined, high-character teams capable of competing in one of the NAIA’s most competitive conferences.

As a player at Goshen, Carver was a two-time All-Crossroads League selection and helped lead the Maple Leafs to the 2015-16 NAIA national semifinals. She finished her career ranked in the program’s top ten in multiple statistical categories - including scoring, field goals made, three-point percentage and free throws made.

Her coaching experience includes impactful stops at Louisburg College and Catawba Valley Community College, where her teams combined for a 76-18 record. She returned to Goshen as an assistant coach for the 2023-24 season before being elevated to head coach.

Carver is committed to building a program that develops high-level competitors, strong leaders, and well-rounded individuals, while continuing to elevate Goshen College women’s basketball within the Crossroads League and beyond.
