Grace Ends Conference Tennis Season For Salvador, Maple Leafs

WINONA LAKE, Ind. — The Goshen College women's tennis team concluded its 2015 Crossroads League slate Tuesday night with a 9-0 loss at Grace College.

Noemi Salvador claimed four games in the second set, the most by any Maple Leaf in any stanza on the evening. But following a 40-minute delay to dry the court as a cold front passed through northern Indiana, three Maple Leaf singles players dropped their first sets 6-0 and dug a hole too deep to overcome.

In doubles, on the other hand, Salvador and Joelle Friesen nearly pulled out a victory: with Friesen playing a spot higher than intended after an early-season injury to Kendra Lozano, the duo came within a service break of tying the match before losing 8-6.

The Maple Leafs finish the conference season with an 0-8 record, finishing ninth in the league and failing to qualify for the Crossroads League postseason tournament. Goshen is 0-10 this season and concludes its fall schedule on Thursday, Oct. 1 against Anderson University: first serve is set for 4 p.m.
