Foresters Knock Off Maple Leafs, Ending Goshen's Season

By Tony Miller
Sports Information Director

GOSHEN, Ind. — With the Crossroads League tournament out of the picture entering Saturday's regular-season finale, the Goshen College women's tennis team still had hopes of finishing the season on a high note. The Huntington Foresters had other ideas, solidifying a third-place finish with a 9-0 win at the Goshen College Tennis Complex.

Constanze Goelz, Meg Dolde, Lanae Singleton and Lisa Colling each posted a pair of wins on Saturday for the Foresters (12-2, 7-2), who won each doubles match by 8-0 shutout and each singles match in straight sets. While the Maple Leafs (0-9, 0-9) played their final home match of the season, it was not senior day as the roster has no seniors.

The match, combined with Indiana Wesleyan's 9-0 win over Grace on Saturday, concluded the conference season as well: all 45 Crossroads League matches were won by the team that finished higher in the regular-season standings and there were no ties in the final table.

The Maple Leafs concluded their 46th season of women's tennis overall and 26th season in the Crossroads League on Saturday. Stay tuned to GoLeafs.net for the latest developments throughout the offseason, including awards, recruiting news and potential spring matches.
