GOSHEN, Ind. — Victoria Oakes and Kyra Krall each started singles play on the right foot with a set victory on Saturday, but Indiana University Kokomo topped Goshen College 9-0 in the inaugural women's tennis meeting between the two schools.
Oakes took her opener 7-5 off Kelsey Kohlmorgen at the top spot, while Krall eked out a tiebreaker win by a 7-6(5) margin at the number-four position. Hannah Behm came within a single service break in each of her sets as well, dropping a 6-4, 6-4 decision at no. 2.
Ashley Arroyo and Krall combined for GC's best doubles showing, an 8-5 effort at no. 2.
The Maple Leafs continue their spring season Monday with a match against Indiana Tech; first serve is set for 4:30 at the Goshen College Tennis Complex, with the men also starting their match at 4:30.
