GOSHEN, Ind. — The Goshen College athletic department, in conjunction with the Goshen College Pandemic Task Force, has announced an updated spectator policy for outdoor spring sports in the 2021 season.
With the start of home events in softball and baseball, our athletic events begin to move back outside and into open-air venues. Spectator attendance will be open to all home and visiting fans as well as the local community. Tickets will not be required to attend any of the events, but the Big Four COVID-19 protocols (see below) are expected to be followed. Face masks required when 6 feet of distancing is not possible.
Each bleacher section will have a designated capacity based on physical distancing, but there will be no limits placed on lawn chair seating.
The remaining men's volleyball matches, which are held indoors in Ruth Gunden Gymnasium, will continue to be managed through the pass list system in place: each Goshen athlete is permitted four guests.
All home events will continue to be streamed online free of charge on the athletic department YouTube channel.
Media members that wish to attend games should contact the Goshen College Sports Information Office in advance of the game.
All spectators must show identification and adhere to all Goshen College COVID-19 protocols, including the ones listed below. Concessions will not be available; public restrooms will be open, but physical distancing must be maintained wherever possible.
These policies apply to events hosted by Goshen College; fans wishing to attend games at other schools should consult the Crossroads League website or the opponent school's athletic website for information on attendance limitations and streaming options.
Goshen College COVID-19 protocols for athletic competitions:
- Face masks are required to be worn by all spectators, athletes and coaches, visiting recruits and accompanying family members as well as support staff. The only exception to this is when an athlete is competing on the field or court.
- While spectators who are members of the same immediate family may sit together, households must remain 6 feet apart from other families.
- Wash hands often with soap and water or using the provided hand sanitizer stations.
- Self-screen daily and do not attend the game if experiencing symptoms.
- Weekly surveillance COVID testing is being conducted at Goshen College for all students and employees.
This policy is subject to change based on guidance from Goshen College, athletic governing bodies, or local, state or federal authorities.
