GOSHEN, Ind. — Ezra Kipruto, a sophomore on the men's cross country team, has been named the Everence Student-Athlete of the Week for September 26 - October 3!
In his first race as a Maple Leaf, Liberty transfer Ezra Kipruto led Goshen to a school record for the fastest time among the top five runners in school history at the Live in Lou Classic hosted by the Louisville Cardinals on Saturday. The Goshen top five combined for a 127:26 time, 86 seconds faster than the previous best time set three years ago at the 2019 Greater Louisville Classic.
Kipruto placed 28th in the field of 416, finishing the 8k in 24:56.3. Kipruto is a transfer from Division I institution Liberty University where he competed for one season. Goshen placed 13th in a race that featured runners from schools like Xavier, Marshall, Grand Valley State, and Tennessee-Martin. The men beat seven ranked opponents and placed ahead of conference foes Taylor and Spring Arbor. Grace placed 6th and Huntington came in at 11th.
The men compete next on Friday, October 7, at 2:30 pm at the Bethel Invitational. It will be the junior varsity squad only that is competing.
Way to go, Ezra!
