GOSHEN, Ind. - Hasan Hadzic had 23 kills and a .390 hitting percentage as the Maple Leafs won a five-set thriller over Siena Heights in their penultimate match of the season.
Siena Heights won the first set 25-20, but Goshen won the second set 25-22 before dominating in the third, 25-12. The Saints won a tight fourth set 27-25, and then GC ended the match with a 15-12 fifth set win.
Hadzic led the team in kills but also had four block assists and a solo block.
Ishmail Bangura added another 14 kills to go with eight digs.
Pablo Sanchez had ten digs - his sixth match this season with a double-digit dig total.
Wyatt Bollinger steered the Goshen offense with 44 assists.
Both teams had 50 assists each, but Goshen narrowly won in the digs and kills categories. Goshen had eight aces compared to five for Siena Heights. Goshen had lost six of their most recent seven sets against the Saints.
Goshen (8-12, 6-11 WHAC) wraps up the season on Saturday, March 25 for Senior Day, as
Juan Llama and
Ian Fox will be recognized before the match. The recognition will start at 3:00 pm with the match to follow around 3:05 pm.
