GOSHEN, Ind. - The Maple Leafs softball team outscored Grace 14-2 on Friday afternoon and improved their Crossroads League record to 6-2. Goshen won 5-1 in the first game and needed just five innings to win game two by a score of 9-1.
Alisyn Catenacci allowed just two hits in seven innings pitched in game one, improving her pitching record this season to 6-2. She had three strikeouts, no walks, and one earned run. The majority of Goshen's offense came in the fourth inning when they scored three runs on two hits. Five different players scored Goshen's five runs. And although all seven of the Leafs' hits were singles, they did enough to seal the win.
Kaylee Kates went 2-2 with two singles and a walk.
In game two,
Shea VanScoter improved to 6-1 in the circle this season by allowing one earned run in five innings pitched. Although she threw just one strikeout, she only allowed one walk and four hits. All nine players in the GC starting lineup had at least one hit each.
Bianca Diamond had three hits in the #9 spot with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Alisyn Catenacci was 2-3 with a solo home run, two RBIs, and a run.
Alyssa McDonald went 2-2 and
Kaylee Kates scored two runs.
Goshen is tied for the second-best win percentage in the Crossroads League. They are at #6 Indiana Wesleyan on Tuesday, March 24, at 4:00 pm.
