SPRING ARBOR, Mich. - Goshen picked up their fourth Crossroads League victory this season with a resounding 15-5 win at Spring Arbor on Monday. The Cougars won game one 14-3.
This was the first time the Maple Leafs had scored 15 runs in a conference game since April 3, 2021. That game was a 15-12 win over Spring Arbor at home.
Spring Arbor took a 5-0 lead after two innings in game one, but Goshen came back with some RBI hits in the fourth and fifth innings.
Peyton Smith's single in the fourth scored
Jenner Rodammer, and Rodammer's single in the fifth brought home
Ryan Maloney and
Justin Dambruck. GC starter
Dalton Soergel pitched five innings and allowed five earned runs on eight hits. The Maple Leafs were only down by two, but Spring Arbor opened the floodgates in the sixth inning.
The Cougars scored eight runs in that frame, ending the rally with a two-run home run from Aiden Brunin. By run rule, the Cougars won in seven innings 14-3. Rodammer finished with two RBIs, a run and a walk.
The Leafs scored in the first six innings of game two - finishing with 15 runs on 17 hits.
It started with an RBI double from
Joseph Cerda in the first and continued with a sacrifice fly from
Joshua Rubio in the second. Spring Arbor scored three runs in the first, but Goshen starter
Preston Anderson settled in and would pitch a complete seven innings.
Cerda had a sac fly in the third, and then Rodammer came through with a three-run homer in the fourth - his seventh home run this season. The Leafs scored five runs in the fifth inning. A double from
Joshua Rubio scored two of the five runs, and an RBI single from Rodammer brought Rubio home. Rubio added on to his best performance this season with another two-RBI double in the sixth to make it 15-4. He finished the game with five RBIs, a run scored, and two doubles. It was his first multi-hit game this season, and he doubled his season RBI total.
Anderson allowed five earned runs on eight hits in seven innings pitched. With the win, his record improves to 3-3 this season. Rodammer went 3-5 at the plate with four RBIs, two runs scored, and two extra base hits - a double and a home run. Cerda was 3-3 with two RBIs and two runs.

Peyton Smith all had multiple hits in the game as well. Goshen had lost six straight games to SAU.
The Maple Leafs play six straight home games with four against Saint Francis and two against Grace. Goshen faces Saint Francis on Friday, April 14, at 1:00 pm before taking them on again at the same time the next day.
