SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - GC men's volleyball lost in three sets at Lawrence Tech on Saturday. The Blue Devils won 25-13, 27-25, 25-9.
An injury to Goshen setter
Igor Sapucaia midway through the first set forced Goshen to be without the reigning WHAC Setter of the Week for the rest of the match. The Leafs didn't get back in rhythm for the rest of the set, only scoring a handful of points.
The second set was an improvement for Goshen, as they boosted their hitting percentage from -.097 to .184. With a kill from
Hasan Hadzic that gave Goshen a 23-22 lead, the Blue Devils turned around with back-to-back kills to go up 24-23. Goshen scored two in a row on kills from Hadzic and
Ishmail Bangura with assists from setter
Avery Laforce, but LTU scored three in a row to win it 27-25. They quickly went up 5-1 en route to a dominant 25-9 win in the third set.
Hasan Hadzic had 13 kills and
Ishmail Bangura had three block assists, six kills and six digs.
Bruno Barac had six digs and
Avery Laforce provided 16 assists.
Goshen finished one spot shy of making it to the WHAC tournament. The top six in the conference advance, and Goshen placed seventh of ten.
