Women place 15th of 29, Riley in top ten individually at C300 Western Shootout

Riley's highest score of 279 tied the program record he established a year ago

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Goshen women placed 15th of 29 teams and Brendan Riley was in the top ten for the men individually to highlight Goshen's trip to Indianapolis at the Columbia 300 Western Shootout on Saturday and Sunday. The Goshen men placed 26th of 29 as a team.

Women - 15th of 29
Freshman Kaidance Gates was Goshen's top performer across the six regular games for the women. Gates averaged 179.0 pins per game and totaled 1,074 pins, placing 43rd of 228 overall. She improved her season-high game score from a 189 to a 209 and boosted her season average from 161.2 to 170.1 pins per game. She currently leads the team in total pins this season with 2,041. Lexie Strong finished in 107th, averaging a score of 170.4 over the five games she bowled. Kaylee McNab wasn't far behind in 111th place with a 168.6 average across five games. Rebekah Muzyk came in 147th with a 164.25 average over four games and Guliana Castiglione was 158th with a 151.0 average over four.

Goshen eclipsed 5,000 pins after the regular games on Saturday, averaging a score of 841 per game and finishing with 5,046 pins. Across the 16 baker games on Sunday, Goshen generally got better as the day went on. The Leafs had a particularly strong stretch across the 12th and 14th games, with scores of 216, 210 and 268. At 2,949 pins, GC had a higher baker total than University of the Cumberlands, Governors State and Marian - all teams in the top 25 of the USBC rankings. The Maple Leafs finished the weekend in 15th place, behind Marian, but ahead of Huntington and Grace from the Crossroads League.

Men - 26th of 29
The men were led by a top-10 individual performance from Brendan Riley. Riley had a score of 210 or higher in four of his six regular games. His highest score of 279 tied the program record he established in Goshen's first season a year ago at the Falcon Classic, and he averaged 220.2 pins per game for a total of 1,321 pins. He placed tenth of 288 bowlers. Hayden Grindle was next in 142nd and with a 181.8 average over five games. Nik Bressert was close behind in 147th with a 177.0 average and Cameron Fedenis followed in 156th and a 204.3 average across four games. Blake Fisher came in 185th and had a 174.0 average in four games played.

The men posted scores of 200+ in four of their first seven baker games on Sunday. Their best score of 222 came in the first game, followed by a 216 in game three, 221 in game four and 208 in game seven. While Goshen averaged a score of 205.4 in their first eight baker games, they averaged a 161.6 in the last eight, with their highest score being a 193 in that span. Goshen finished with the weekend with 5,652 pins in the regular games and 2,986 in the baker games for a total of 8,638 pins, coming in 26th of 29 teams. The Leafs were narrowly behind Huntington, as the Foresters came in 25th with a total of 8,663 pins. Grace was 20th and Marian led all teams with a first-place finish.

The Maple Leafs are next in action on November 8 and 9 at the Leatherneck Classic in Rockford, Illinois. The men will compete at Don Carter Lanes while the women will be at Cherry Bowl.
