GOSHEN, Ind. - Men's volleyball lost to a top-five NAIA team on Tuesday night, falling to Cornerstone in three sets. The Golden Eagles won 25-21, 25-12, 25-17. Cornerstone is now 7-1 in the WHAC.
The Leafs were without two of their key players this season -
Bruno Barac and
Ishmail Bangura. Goshen was down 6-2 early, but was evenly matched with Cornerstone the rest of the set. Goshen had just as many kills and an even better hitting percentage than the visitors. The second set was much different. Goshen had five kills and ten attack errors with a -.217 hitting percentage. Cornerstone created separation in the third after the teams were tied 6-6.
Cornerstone had ten aces in the match to Goshen's one. Goshen had won the first five matchups in the series, but Cornerstone has won the last five.
Sawyer Frystak had 14 kills and
Ben Koop had seven for Goshen. Koop had eight digs and Frystak was just behind him with six.
Igor Sapucaia had 20 assists and an ace.
