Tennis teams secure 5-2 victories at Olivet Nazarene

Women win all three doubles matches for third time this season

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. - The Goshen tennis teams took down the Olivet Nazarene Tigers on the road on Friday, both by scores of 5-2. The men have their most wins in a season since 2019-20 and the women have their most since 2004-05.

The wins come a day after the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) NAIA team, singles and doubles rankings came out. The Goshen men were ranked #28, the women #43, and the women's doubles team of Uliana Dotsenko and Blanka Bodo were ranked #17.

Women - Goshen 5, Olivet Nazarene 2
The women won all three doubles matches for the third time this season and the first time since September 11 against Mount Vernon Nazarene. Morgan Priebe and Arianngel Mosquera had a dominant 6-1 win at #3 doubles, ending a six-match doubles losing streak for the pair.

The Tigers scored singles points at #5 singles and #1 singles, the latter due to Blanka Bodo being ill and retiring early. Mosquera cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 victory in #6 singles and Uliana Dotsenko improved to 13-5 in singles this year with her 6-2, 6-2 win at #2 singles. Sara Nino and Ariadna Otin O'Callaghan handles #3 and #4 singles and won both their doubles and singles matches.

Men - Goshen 5, Olivet Nazarene 2
The men lost the doubles point 2-1, but won five of the six singles matches. Filippo Gallo and Matija Margetic won at #2 doubles 6-2.

Gallo and Margetic won their singles matches as well in addition to Timo Novak, Denis Stanculov and Pedro Scattolon. This season in singles, Novak is 12-6, Margetic is 11-6, Scattolon is 10-6, Gallo is 8-10 and Stanculov is 2-3.

Goshen is at Davenport on Friday, March 21, with a noon start time.
