GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Goshen tennis teams lost to Davenport on Friday, a Division II school. The Panthers men won 6-1 and the women won 7-0.
Pedro Scattolon scored the men's point, winning his fourth singles match in a row.
Men - Goshen 1, Davenport 6
The Goshen #1 doubles team of
Timo Novak and
Denis Stanculov won 7-6 and 7-5 in the tiebreaker. Davenport won at #2 and #3 doubles to take the doubles point. In singles,
Pedro Scattolon won at #6, 6-4, 5-7, and 10-8 in the tiebreak.
Novak earned his eighth double win of the season, the most on the team.
Pedro Scattolon won his fourth straight singles match and is now 11-6 in singles competition this season, tied for the second-highest win total on the team.
Women - Goshen 0, Davenport 7
The women lost all three doubles matches, with the closest being a 6-4 score at #3 doubles with the Maple Leafs team of
Arianngel Mosquera and
Morgan Priebe.
Ariadna Otin O'Callaghan forced a tiebreaker at #4 singles but lost that 10-3.
Goshen is at IU Indy on Wednesday, April 2.
