GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - #10 Cornerstone put down 15 aces in a three-set sweep of the Maple Leafs in Grand Rapids on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Eagles won 25-17, 25-15, 25-14 and improved their record to 21-6 overall and 11-2 in the WHAC.
Cornerstone quickly went up 8-1 in the first set and Goshen never had a lead in the set. Similarly, it was a 9-1 start for the home team in the next set without the Maple Leafs taking a lead, and then 8-2 to start the third set.
The Golden Eagles had 15 aces compared to one for the Leafs. Goshen had a .286 hitting percentage in the first set but only had four kills in the second set and ten attack errors in the third.
Andrea Biffi had six kills and a .444 hitting percentage to lead the Goshen attack.
Sawyer Frystak was the leader in digs with nine. Avery LaForce had 16 assists.
