HOLLAND, Mich. - The men's tennis team continued their dominant start to the year, this time winning 6-1 at Hope College and improving to 3-0 this season.
The men have won 19 points this year and lost just two. It's the second straight season that the men have started 3-0, but the first season since 2019 where they have won their first three road matches of the year.
Goshen won the doubles point 3-0.
Timo Novak and
Filippo Gallo pulled through with a 7-5 win at #1 doubles and
Paulo Lopez and
Joaquin Luque came away with a win at #3 doubles, 6-4.
Iago Cicui and
Garrett Stoltzfus were strong during a 6-1 win at #2 doubles.
Goshen's only loss came in a tiebreaker at #6 singles. But the Leafs had straight-set wins from #1 singles through #5 singles.
Filippo Gallo,
Paulo Lopez,
Timo Novak and
Garrett Stoltzfus all have perfect 3-0 records in singles this season. Cicui, Lopez, Novak and Stoltzfus have also competed and won all three doubles matches they've been a part of.
The Maple Leafs compete at the ITA Regional Tournament, hosted by Holy Cross College, from Thursday, September 25 through Saturday, September 27.
