GOSHEN, Ind. - Although Goshen won the first two sets of their home opener, Judson rallied to win in five and improve their season record to 3-1. The Eagles won 27-29, 24-26, 25-22, 25-20, 15-11.

The Maple Leafs had to rally themselves within their first and second set wins. Judson led 17-12 in the first but Goshen had an 8-3 run to tie the set at 20-20 after an ace from Nash Hubick. GC had a couple of set points before finally winning 29-27. The second set was similar, in that Judson had another five-point lead early on at 8-3. The Eagles were up 23-19 late in the set, but the Leafs ended it on a thrilling 7-1 run. Bruno Barac had a solo block and two block assists in that span.

The script flipped in the third when the visitors led 6-2. This time their lead didn't disappear. Goshen cut it within two at 24-22 but Judson got the next point to win by three. They led 8-1 in the fourth and Goshen only got within four. After the teams were tied 2-2 in the fifth, the Eagles went up 9-5 until Goshen scored four times in a row to tie it up at nine. From that point on, though, Judson went on a 6-2 run to win 15-11 and take the match 3-2.

Judson led in kills (66-50), aces (10-6), assists (60-47) and digs (35-31). The teams were tied in blocks 11-11. The all-time series between the two schools is now tied 5-5. Judson has won the last four, but three of those have gone to four sets. Goshen's hitting percentage of .252 is their best this season. Ben Koop had 14 kills and five digs. Sawyer Frystak totaled ten kills, four block assists and three digs. Ryan Kabrich also had ten kills with three block assists. Nash Hubick had 25 assists and Avery Laforce added 14. Mathis Doladille had six kills, a .667 hitting percentage, two aces and six block assists.

Goshen is at the Showdown in the Woods tournament this weekend in Saint Mary of the Woods, Indiana. On Friday, the Leafs face Park University Gilbert and Simpson University (Calif.) at 11:00 am and 2:00 pm.
